BuyVM (OpenVZ/Luxembourg)

A preliminary (very rushed) benchmark with the “essentials”, save for speedtest.net which can be taken with a pinch of segfault. This is BuyVM’s new Luxembourg location; hence it may be hammered with other people running benchmarks and tests at the moment. So I will repeat and rinse the procedure in the forthcoming days with more tests on a KVM, rather than this OpenVZ VM which was migrated from their lv-node*.

At the moment of writing this the VPS is running virtually stock with the exception of screen+irssi and fail2ban. I plan on having 6 new nodes in LU for my IRC network…quite pointless, as there’s basically no users on k0nslIRC anyway, but someday, who knows…this is my idea of “fun”. At one point there were over 30 nodes on the IRC network — for 25+ users. That’s illogical. Whatever, it is my hobby. Some people are into trainspotting, and me, I collect VPSes for various purposes: mostly for IRC nodes, testing and evaluating, or other miscellaneous purposes. One day I will put them to a better use. A few of them do serve a useful purpose – but only a handful of them so far 🙂

I know this post is very sparse on details and actual tests, however, as I say, it’ll be complemented with another new test on a KVM VPS in same location. This OpenVZ was a migrate from their Las Vegas location. In the future, I plan to buy only KVMs from BuyVM — right now, unfortunately, most of them are OpenVZ based.
