VikingLayer: Xen HVM

This is an initial benchmark of a service provided by VikingLayer (a product of the famed Dr.Server company); I ordered their Xen HVM service and I picked the Dallas, Texas location, in the Incero data center. I think most people “in the know” can agree that Incero’s data center is well-known to be reputable and that they operate a nice clean network as well.

I bought the small package for €5 a month, but got the first month for just €1.

That is all for now. As I wrote in the beginning of this entry, this is just an initial benchmark of their service; I have only had it for three days so far. Hence, a follow-up will be posted in three months with additional tests as well as with my ordinary and rather rudimentary bench.sh “test suite”. At any rate, you can get your own viking at vikinglayer.com! As of this writing there is no Scandinavian location available for their Xen HVM plans, but they do offer a Swedish location for the OpenVZ-based plans. If you decide to buy one of their services you very likely won’t be disappointed — the tasks I am using it for is working splendidly for me and the staff is incredibly friendly!
